Story Road Films
Creative Direction | Visual Identity Design
Mark Dixon and Mark Christmas are the husband-and-husband filmmaking duo behind Story Road Films. As passionate creatives motivated by great storytelling, their brand identity needed to be flexible and evocative.
The name Story Road Films is an acknowledgment of their commitment to story when it comes to filmmaking and an ode to the street in Ocoee, Florida where they were married in 2022. The name represents the union of their talents, passions, and shared goal of putting great stories on film.

Phase 1: Discovery & Stylescapes
Before designing, I met with 'the Marks' to learn more about their vision for Story Road Films and the personality they wanted to embody with the brand.
Some of the words they shared were: Storied, wise, fun, progressive, reverent, exciting.
These words and the discovery questionnaire became my North Star when it was time to start designing.
I took what they shared and developed two moodboards (or stylescapes) to visualize two unique interpretations of their brand story and goals. While they loved both moodboards, they ultimately chose option 2, "Bright Future." They wanted to capture the energy, modernity, and progressive energy of the style, while utilizing symbolism of road signs and intersections through form and negative space.

Phase 2: Creating a Logomark That Tells a Story
After countless concepts and sketches, I narrowed it down to four scalable logo sets to present to the Marks.
They ultimately fell in love with the simplified road sign symbol for it's double-meaning—representing an intersection signpost and a clapperboard. This was one of those ideal situations where it was clear to me which logo was the 'best' choice, and the client thankfully agreed! Though the other options were interesting and good designs, none of them captured the intrigue, style, and personality of the Story Road brand quite so perfectly.

Conclusion
To provide them with the most flexibility and ease-of-use, I developed a full logo-suite with options that can scale from small social media applications, all the way to larger posters and screens. Mark and Mark were thrilled with the final designs and they've been able to rollout their social media presence with the new branding seamlessly.
